Fluorite is the calcium-fluoride mineral CaF₂; fluorspar is its commercial commodity name. Uses and impurity limits vary by grade, so particle size alone does not define a fluorspar product.

Are fluorite and fluorspar the same?
Fluorite is the mineralogical name; fluorspar is the established commercial name for fluorite raw material mined at scale. They describe different contexts of the same commodity, while a commercial grade also requires purity and end-use specifications.
Fluorite cannot be assumed to be acid grade or metallurgical grade without analysis and acceptance criteria.
Boundary between preparation and beneficiation
Ore mineralogy is assessed with quartz, carbonates and other associated phases. Crushing, grinding and sizing can support liberation, but mechanical size reduction alone may not meet a high-purity target.
This article does not present flotation or chemical purification as an Estilo service. The flowsheet depends on representative testing and product specification.
Grinding and classification
- Balance liberation size against excessive fines
- Validate feed hardness, breakage and wear behaviour
- Define product PSD and impurity limits
- Match the circuit to dry or wet downstream steps
- Provide access for sampling and mass-balance checks
Project inputs
- Mineralogy and chemical analysis
- Feed PSD, moisture and capacity objective
- Target use grade and acceptance specification
- Liberation and beneficiation requirement
- Waste, water and dust-management boundaries
